Hello there my lovelies,
As previously stated, I love skin care products as much as I love clothes, shoes and makeup. So it stands to reason that I am always changing my skin care routine. I do try to choose items according to my mature skin, especially when it comes to moisturiser however, more often then not I would go with what my skin is telling me and this is why this time around I opted for this rountine.
So here’s an in depth look at my current routine and first time using any of these brands:
“Lightweight cleansing balm quickly dissolves stubborn eye and face make-ups, including those with sunscreen. Transforms from a solid balm to a silky, fluid oil upon application. Cleans thoroughly, rinses off completely. Non-greasy. Non-drying. For all skin types.”
Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm is an unscented balm, perfect if you have sensitised skin as it will not irritate. It is truly a really nice balm that is a gentle cleanser yet completely effective; it removes all traces of make-up with ease, leaves my skin feeling both soft and hydrated. I also rather enjoy the fact that it is safe to use on the eye area and removes gel liner and mascara without the need to pull or tug on such a delicate area. On the skin, it does turn into a light silky oil, that it is easily removed. I like to remove the balm with a makeup wipe (thank you Patrick Starr for the tip) which make it that much easier to remove it from your face.
I do recommend being pretty vigilant when it comes to the removal stage as with any balm it could lead to blackheads/blocked pores if all traces are not wiped away thoroughly. If you are having to deal with dry skin or want something a little more nourishing for that matter I would highly recommend the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm – since it is gentle on the skin, cleanses deeply and hydrates your skin.
The consistence is a really firm as texture and I do like using a spatula to pick up the amount of product I want as with my nails it’s quite difficult I dip into the jar without ending up with balm underneath my nails which I totally hate. Huge thumbs up from my end and I highly recommend it to all, especially those who gravitate towards balm formulations.
Clinique Foaming Sonic Facial Soap
This soap is designed to be used with the Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush, but of course you can use it on its own or with any other cleaning brush. It’s a creamy, foaming facial cleanser designed for all skin types, even dry skin. You get 150ml of the facial soap, which is pretty decent. It leaves your face feeling softer, creamier and kinda fluffier. Comparing the brush versus hands method – I personally prefer using the brush method as the lather comes out a lot creamier and fluffier when you use the brush and by using the brush in circular motion, it feels like you are getting all off the make still on your face. With both methods, you can change the foam type depending on how much water you use with the cleanser – for a very bubbly, light foam, use more water, and for a rich, creamy, thick lather, use less. The thick creamy lather cleanses your skin more than the thinner lather, so depending on your skin type, the thick lather will may make your face feel dry after cleansing with it.
Clinque Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
As you might be aware, this is the first time using Clinque products, so as always prior to buying said products I was researching this Clinque line and with regards to this Moisturizing I learnt that Clinque released a new DDML and the reviews of said product were kind of confusing (haha!)
However having said that, since I cannot really compare the previous version to this new .. here are my thoughts on this one. In past weeks that I have been using this bottle, I must say that the little man is a trooper and performs brilliantly even with a mild cold and my ever changing foundation routine. I loved the fact that my skin looked surprisingly well hydrated during my mild cold and all my foundations stayed put all day long!
The only thing that bug me a bit is that if though Clinique is meant to be fragrance I detected a slight ‘clinical’ smell at the start but it wears off easily. The consistency is very delicate and I dig the yellow shade. Moisturizer sinks in quickly and nicely.
Ingredient list: Water, Mineral Oil, Glycerin, Petrolatum, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Oil, Urea, Lanolin Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Hordeum Vulgare (Barley) Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seedcake, Propylene Glycol Dicaprate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Trisodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Yellow 6, Yellow 5, Red 33.
As I said review about this product are mixed with people loving or hating it. I guess as with all skincare products, one cannot account for what is happening with other skin types. I think that our skin tolerance to ingredients is different, at a different age or different condition. In my opinion seeing that of lately my skin has been relatively drier than normal I found this as the best investment by far.
Truth be told I do not normally apply eye cream ever and so when someone off a local beauty group on Facebook was raving about this product I thought I would give it a try and I have been using the eye cream for the past 2 weeks (morning and night) and my under eye skin absolutely loves this combo!
The formula of Idealia Eyes is light, but it feels very hydrating. It contains instant illuminators to brighten the eye area, a combination of DRM-Bright complex and Vitamin B3 to reduce dark circles, Vitamin CG to smooth fine lines, Caffeine to energise and Vichy’s signature Thermal Spa Water to soothe the delicate skin around your eyes.
The silicone applicator is a genius idea and it makes the application of the product much easier. I like keeping my Idealia Eyes in the fridge and I use the applicator to massage my under eye area and work the product in. This method feels very soothing and helps with puffiness and dark circles.
I definitely noticed a difference since I started using Idealia Eyes and I can get away with wearing less under-eye makeup, which is something I usually struggle with. I especially like using Idealia Eyes in the morning, because the illuminating formula instantly brightens and makes me look more awake. Something I noticed and that I am loving to the max is the fact that the delicate skin around my eyes feels smoother and plumper as well, which makes the application of concealers stay nicely and I am loving the less creasing of said concealer.
If you are on the lookout for a eye cream that actually works and does not break the bank, you should really try this eye cream. I do not regret that I decided to go for it!
On a side note I have also been using Cien’s new skincare products specially the eye makeup remover, which is absolutely gentle on the eye area, does not totally remove all traces of make up but hey that is not such a big deal since there is a whole regime that follows after that 🙂
