Hey there my lovelies,
The favourites are back! I missed the July one, but as I said in a post of the blog’s Facebook page I did not have any new products to share as favourites! Even though for this month there were not many new items I have decided to share them with you just in case you missed out on any of my posts were I talk about these items.
So here’s my latest favourites and for this one they are all makeup related 😀
Benefit The Porefessional Primer (sample size)
I honesty did not know what I was missing on. I got this sample last December when I ordered some stuff from lookfantastic.com! OMG what a gem! I mean with the smallest amount ever, this guy makes my pores disappear and gives my face a smoother appearance and do not get me started on the matte finish. I found that in order to get the full potential of the product it is best to apply it directly after a moisturizer, and reapply as needed to absorb oil and minimize pores as they “come out of hiding.”
The POREfessional is almost entirely silicone based, with an amount of vitamin E. Like similar silicone-based mattifiers, the POREfessional does go on dry, silky and shine-free. I also quite like the fragrance too but those of you who don’t like perfumed face products, do not worry, it does not linger for much 🙂 This mattifier’s ability to minimize pores is overstated at best, and the benefit of the beautifully smooth, matte feel upon application it just amazing.
I truly was missing out on this primer and will definitely be getting the full size (side note can anyone suggest were I can get it from as lookfantastic won’t ship benefit products outside the UK and feelunique do no not hold the brand) and even though it’s quite expensive a little goes a long way and it’s worth every penny!
eBay foundation brush
If you missed my eBay bargain hunt, I have have been testing this little brush for a few weeks now and I must admit that it is one of the best foundation brushes I own and for an item that is so cheap, it pretty impressive! Quite a nice brush to use, it soft but dense which helps making foundation application go on easily and smoothly with that ‘air brush like’ feel.
I do highly recommend this brush if you are no newbie at foundation application and will definitely re-stock on it!
Milani Conceal + Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation + Concealer in 04 Medium Beige
I have been hearing and seeing tons of reviews about the Milani’s Conceal and Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation and Concealer most of the time considered to be the skin’s new secret weapon!!
I totally agree with that statement! If you are in searching for a long lasting, mattifying and full coverage foundation, without breaking the bank then look no further. I opted for the shade Medium Beige, which is a tad darker than my normal shade, but it suits me well at the moment since I am sporting a bit of a tan! I got the foundation from a new local online store The Beauty Pixie Store, which is absolutely fantastic, since Milani is a US brand and usually to get something not as expensive we end up spending more because of import taxes. The above captioned site carries ten out of the fourteen shades available which is a good number considering that most skin tones are covered!
I have being using and testing this foundation, for a few weeks now and the times I used this liquid foundation, I had it on for more than 10 hours, but I also wore the Benefit porefessional which I think made it last longer. As for the foundation itself… it’s mattifying, but not too much that it dries out your face. It goes on smooth and feels silky on your skin! It has a buildable coverage. One application gives you medium coverage which was fine for me, but a second application will surely give a fuller coverage and TOP POINTS for the fact that it does not oxidize! To use it as a concealer, I apply it on the areas I usually do underneath my eyes and also desired highlighting areas!
Milani really hit the nail with this liquid foundation, package very high-end, consistency amazing and price even better. Highly recommend it!
L’Oreal Lumi Cushion Magique
The cushion foundations have been out for a while now and they stirred quite a rage. Admittedly, I’m a bit late to the game, as I didn’t know much about them. Main reason being this type of product was only available via high-end brands, but now there’s a drug store version available. The L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation has been out for a while too and this foundation besides the Milani is one I have using for the past weeks and to my surprised I liked it very much, as I’d never tried a cushion foundation before and didn’t know what to expect.
As far as I know there are six shades available and I picked shade 01, which worked well with my slightly tanned face. I was happy to read that foundations contains SPF 25 and the foam like foundation is saturated in the cushion. The first time using it, I didn’t know how to pick up the product properly and quite honestly ended up using too much. The puff which comes with the foundation does not cut it for me. The best option for me is by dabbing my finger in the tub and placing it on my face and I then use a damp makeup sponge to blend it out. The thing I love most about this foundation is it’s light weight feel and the fact that it look very natural on my skin, however surprisingly it provide the right amount of coverage, which I would say is medium but again, it’s easily buildable to full coverage.
I also particularly enjoyed the dewy finish. I do enjoy the dewiness, it makes the skin look healthier and fresh. So on days when I’m feeling a matte look vibe, I won’t reach for this. On the other hand, if you like a dewy finish, you’ll absolutely love this cushion foundation.
As for longevity, foundation is very long lasting and stays put for a good 8 hours while still looking fresh with minimal or no touch-ups. I believe that the lasting power to the foundation goes to the primer and as said before I have been using the Benefit porefessional, so I think that helped too.
All in all, I enjoyed using this foundation. It is nice and again the price point is very reasonable. I mostly loved how natural it looks on my skin plus the lasting power is amazing. A definite must if you like the dewy glow look. However if you prefer a matte finish, then this one isn’t for you.
Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer
I kinda was intrigued by this two in one little dude- a concealer and a highlighter with a colour adapting technology. Hmm quite a mouth full there! I admit that my initial thought was that the ‘colour adapting part’ was thrown in there just to make product sounds lush but to my surprise this one actually works!!! There, I said it!
Formula wise the concealer is thin and creamy and blends out flawless with a damp sponge. In all honesty, a joy to work with for another drugstore brand! It also offers just the right amount of coverage needed to conceal any under eye drama while brightening the area up and making my sometimes tired eyes look refreshed and awake! Although when it comes to pigmentation it ranges in the sheer to medium zone, I would not suggest it to anyone with heavier dark circles.
I was relieved that the whole “highlighter” two in one deal was something that I didn’t have to worry about since normally that means that there is a good chance that product comes across as shimmery or iridescent, but this had none of those issues. It just simply brightens the eye area without the shimmer.
What can I say? I quite enjoyed this. The color adapting technology seemed to have worked for me which was a nice surprise plus the formula is creamy, moisturizing, and long wearing without too much creasing. Overall, the concealer performed well for me so I do recommend picking one up and giving it a try.
Have you tried any of these products?
