Hey there my lovelies,
Welcome back to my Blog!
If you guys have not heard yet – well might be that this slip your radars. I mean, the poor guys at Deciem, and anywhere else that sells this foundation, it must feel like Black Friday all over again, except it’s every single day times 10 times worse!!!
After reading that they had received orders for over 250,000 units in its first week of them releasing this product, I was really unsure as to whether to publish this post as the last thing I wanted was to increase the demand! But considering YouTuber Wayne Goss has already revealed his thoughts to his millions of subscribers, I’m just a small fish in a huge ocean and I absolutely am in love with this product and wanted to share my thoughts with your guys.
Made by Deciem, where performance and affordability are key, there are two foundations in the Ordinary’s portfolio thus far – the Coverage Foundation, and the Serum Foundation. Serum based foundation are a bit tricky as much as I love their glow – they have a tendency to slide off so I ordered the Coverage Foundation in a light neutral shades. There is a super handy swatch guide to the colours here, and there is a comprehensive guide to what shade has what undertone too. There are 21 shades ranging from Very Fair to Very Deep.

I was blown away by how easy this product is to apply – admittedly when I got the bottle I thought, I seriously thought I got a very very light shade (I got the 1.2 Y – Yellow undertone) but when I blended with my makeup sponge it went on seamlessly, and is beautifully opaque without being super dense. Consistency wise, it’s a silky thin-cream texture, of which you only need a VERY small amount – I cannot stress enough the VERY! First time I tried it I wasted a good 2 pumps of product as I did way too much.
Upon buffing in, after a few seconds it starts to lose its slip and sets, but doesn’t dry down to impenetrable grip so I’d definitely suggest setting with powder for the oily ones among you. My skin is combination so I added powder where I normally grease. With regards to longevity the product gives you a good 5 to 6 hours of wear.
I can honestly say that The Ordinary could not have tried any harder to provide such a great product. What is also unique about this foundation is it’s adaptability – I can vouch for this – it really blends with your skin tone meaning that you could choose shades in or around the correct one (especially if like me ordering online) and it’s technology will work to match your skin tone. Who knows how, but pretty clever if you ask me!
If I had to summarise this product in three words, I’d say – pretty damn awesome. I think it’s a good solid foundation medium buildable to almost full coverage which should satisfy anyone looking for moderately durable wear, good coverage and a natural luminous semi matte finish. I’d be very surprised if you could find a better shade range, finish and coverage for just Eur6.50!!! So from my end highly recommend 🙂
Until next time,
